Ocean Jasper, also known as orbicular jasper and sea jasper, is sometimes referred to as the "Stone of Atlantis" due to its supposed connection with the legendary city.

Originating from the northwest coast of Madagascar, it is only accessible at low tide and by boat, adding to its mystery and rarity. While the term "ocean jasper" specifically refers to the first mine owned by Paul Obenich near Marovato in Madagascar, it is commonly used to encompass all varieties of jasper from the region (instead of sea jasper). However, no other deposit can match the quality found in Madagascar.

This stone is a spheritic variety of chalcedony, with quartz inclusions coloured by iron oxides, feldspars, and other impurities, forming characteristic orbicular patterns. The base colours of this gemstone can range from green, brown, cream, white, red, pink, to yellow, while the orbicular inclusions offer a multitude of chromatic combinations.
